Dentsu Joins the Japan Climate Leaders’ Partnership (JCLP) as a Supporting Member

Dentsu Group Inc. (President & CEO: Hiroshi Igarashi; Headoffice: Tokyo) announced today that it joined the Japan Climate Leaders’ Partnership (hereinafter “JCLP”*) as a supporting member in July 2023. The JCLP is a unique group of Japanese corporations established in 2009, and is based on the notion that industry should have a strong sense of urgency and initiate proactive actions in order to realize a sustainable, decarbonized society. The organization aims to lead the transition to a decarbonized society and become a group of companies that meets the expectations of society. The JCLP comprises 242 member companies, including leading Japanese corporations from a wide range of industries (as of July 2023).

Dentsu has announced ”Social Impact and ESG” as one of the four pillars of its medium-term management plan, which ends in fiscal 2024, and has set indicators and targets for climate change countermeasures. Specifically, the Group will reduce CO2 emissions by 46% and achieve 100% renewable energy usage (only in those markets where it is possible to do so) by fiscal 2030. Along with implementing measures to achieve Group-wide net zero emissions, the Group is providing dentsu carbon neutral solutions that support the efforts of client companies and organizations to become carbon neutral, and is also promoting initiatives to decarbonize media.

The Group will continue to promote various initiatives to realize a decarbonized society not only in Japan but also on a global level.

*The Japan Climate Leaders’ Partnership (JCLP) aims to realize a rapid transition to a decarbonized society and ensure that the 1.5°C target is met in order to overcome the climate crisis. Total sales of the member companies amount to approximately 145 trillion yen, and total electricity consumption is approximately 74 Twh (these reference and approximate values include overseas operations). Working toward the realization of a decarbonized society, the organization has entered into a comprehensive partnership agreement with the City of Yokohama. In addition, as a local partner of The Climate Group, an international non-profit organization, the JCLP acts as a point of contact for the promotion of RE100, EV100, and EP100, while working in collaboration with local governments in Japan and overseas organizations.
