Dentsu Establishes the DENTSU SOKEN Center of Economic Security Research (DCER)

- Integrating dentsu’s intelligence and technology to provide multifaceted support for businesses' economic and cyber security -

Dentsu Group Inc. (Tokyo: 4324; ISIN: JP3551520004; Brand: dentsu; Headquarters: Dentsu Group Inc.; Location: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President & Global CEO: Hiroshi Igarashi; Dentsu Group Inc. and its Group companies are collectively referred to as “dentsu”) announced that DENTSU SOKEN INC., a dentsu company, has established the DENTSU SOKEN Center of Economic Security Research (hereinafter referred to as “DCER”), in order to accelerate responses in the field of economic security amidst the current unpredictable and rapidly changing international environment. Shigeru Kitamura, who previously served as Secretary General of the National Security Secretariat, will serve as DCER’s Executive Director. DCER will commence its activities in April 2025.

■ DCER’s capabilities
DCER will support the sustainable development of Japanese society and businesses in the fields of economic security and cyber defense with the following three functions as its pillars.

1. Thinktank
2. Consulting
3. Security solutions

DCER will provide a variety of specialized services, aiming to further its contributions to Japanese society and businesses as a think tank integrating dentsu’s longstanding domestic and international partnerships and diverse intelligence, as well as the technology solutions developed and led by DENTSU SOKEN as part of dentsu.

Dentsu exists to create new solutions and new beginnings for the sustainable development of its clients and society through connecting diverse talents within and beyond the organization. As a Business-to-Business-to-Society (B2B2S) company, dentsu seeks to generate both economic and social value, working with corporate clients to solve social issues and contribute to the realization of a sustainable future.

Shigeru Kitamura (Former Secretary General of the National Security Secretariat)

Professional background:
Born in Tokyo. Graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Tokyo and joined the National Police Agency in 1980. Has held various positions, including Executive Secretary to the Prime Minister, Director of Cabinet Intelligence and Secretary General of National Security Secretariat/National Security Advisor to the Cabinet. He established the Economic Section within the secretariat and promoted economic security policies. In December 2020, Kitamura was awarded the Defense Department Distinguished Service Medal by the US government. After retiring from governmental duties in July 2021, he became a member of the expert committee on economic security legislation in November of the same year. Kitamura is also the President & CEO of Kitamura Economic Security Inc.
